About
Melissa Amalir is a French-British image maker based in Brighton who creates illustrations using elements of costume design, propmaking, drawing, photography and printmaking.
She is inspired by ghosts, fairytales and other old things.
Melissa graduated with first class honours from the University of Brighton, and was awarded the Gerald and Elizabeth Dennis prize and the Nagoya University of the Arts Incentive award for her final body of work. She has exhibited and published illustrations for research by Bellingcat (2024) and Shakti Shalini (2023).
